According to Pantone’s Colour of the Year, green is the shade that will define 2017. Explaining their choice of colour, Pantone suggested that green reflects our growing desire for revitalisation in the face of a tumultuous 2016 and an effort to reconnect with the natural world as we become more dissatisfied with modern life. Green signifies freshness, growth and natural beauty, all things that we are yearning to bring into our homes in 2017.
The desire for connection with the simple, restorative beauty of the natural world is one we’ve embraced with our Country Garden theme for Spring/Summer 2017. The season’s story draws upon our English roots, taking inspiration from the sunny scents of a traditional English country garden in full bloom.
Green plays an important part in the theme, both in the collection’s visual inspiration and look and in the choice of fresher, more natural scents influenced by fragrant herbs and green foliage. This turn towards green fragrances is exemplified by one of the key scents for SS17, Garden Mint, a sunny fragrance evoking freshly-picked mint leaves. Alongside Garden Mint is a new Herb Garden Lamp Fragrance inspired by the fresh thyme and verbena scents of an English greenhouse. Even classic floral scents in the SS17 collection, like the new Tea Rose fragrance have been given an earthy twist with subtle green notes.
The lively freshness of green is also picked out in the colours of the new collection, from the resplendent tropical greens of the new Peacock Feather Fragrance Lamp (£28.95), to the cool mint shade peeking out from the Garden Mint Scented Candle (£17.95) and the soft pastel leaves decorating the Olive Branch Lamp Gift Set (£37.95).
Are you looking to bring some green into your home in 2017?
Welcome to our Country Garden! For our Spring Collection we wanted to paint a picture of stolen moments of relaxation in dappled sunlight within a pretty cottage garden. The English heritage of Ashleigh & Burwood is important to us, so we aimed to create fragrances that reflected the timeless image of an English sunny day in the garden. As Anna our Product Development Manager explains, ‘Every element from fragrances, colours and styling has been crafted and selected to build the picture of a traditional English garden’.
We’re lucky that many of these traditional gardens are still thriving in our local landscape of Surrey. In fact, the photographs of the new collection were taken quite literally in our own back garden at the home of one of the Ashleigh & Burwood team.
At the heart of the collection are classic English garden florals of Peony, Tea Rose and Lavender, elevated into fresh, modern scents. Tempering the florals are green garden favourites such as Garden Mint, Wild Meadow and Herb Garden.

The New Year is the traditional time for us to set about revitalising our lives – engaging in a little post-Christmas pre-Spring cleaning, detoxing after a season of indulgence and resolving to make changes for the year ahead.
This is a time we often spend identifying the negatives in our lives and resolving to do better in those areas. However, it’s important to remember that self-improvement should be balanced with self-care. The changes we make in the New Year shouldn’t just focus on reducing our clutter or our waistlines, but on shrinking our stress-levels too.
Aromatherapy is an excellent, easy means of introducing a calming influence into your routine. A practice dating far back into our history, aromatherapy uses the therapeutic powers of fragrance to promote wellbeing and stimulate the senses. Drawing its power from natural essential oils, depending on the fragrances in each blend aromatherapy can be used to improve relaxation, concentration or mood.
With an amora Scent Hub, it’s easy to enjoy aromatherapy at home, when it best suits you. Combining technology with pure and natural essential oils, Scent Hubs provide an aromatherapy experience adapted to a busy modern lifestyle.

Our love of space goes all the way back to ancient times, when the Greeks mapped out the constellations of the night sky, and as the excitement over this month’s ‘supermoon’ shows, our passion for the astronomical continues today. The moon isn’t the only celestial body holding our interest, continued exploration of Mars has made headlines throughout 2016. Meanwhile, advancements like British astronaut Tim Peake’s six month-long stay at the International Space Station earlier this year makes the crossing of the ‘final frontier’ seem closer than ever.
However, for the moment we earthbound folk are content to get our space-fix wherever we can. Out of this world tales are currently filling the silver and small screens, and we’re even wearing our starry dreams on our sleeves, as designs emblazoned with celestial details parade down the runway, while clothes featuring NASA’s iconic logo have made a splash on the high street.
Space’s influence has also made its way into our homes, inspiring clean, futuristic interior design schemes, galactic prints and zodiac wall art. A simple way to add a subtle touch of the cosmic, several of our glittering Mosaic Fragrance Lamps also have interstellar inspirations behind their designs.

Boozy fragrances are now officially en vogue with beauty giants like Marc Jacobs and Tom Ford releasing alcohol-scented perfumes. However, for many of us spending the day wafting around the scent of whisky is not exactly ideal. Another way to incorporate the trend is to bring the scent of spirits into the home, where the smell of the alcohol-inspired fragrance Cognac and Leather adds a relaxed and luxurious air.
