As sunny weather starts to shine through the clouds, we begin spending a lot more time outdoors relaxing and enjoying the sunshine. With the sun comes a season of outside events, from garden parties and barbecues to outdoor weddings. Little details can that have an impressive effect on the atmosphere of any event and fragrance is hugely useful in creating the perfect ambience.
Scent is big part of memory, so fragrance can help to craft special memories of whatever you’re celebrating. Scent can also enhance a party’s theme, like pairing a beachy-inspired theme with a fresh, coastal scent like Sea Breeze or replicating a floral motif in a wedding bouquet or decorations in fragrance.
With their detailed, decorative design, Fragrance Lamps are a beautiful means of scenting events. Their incredible fragrance release makes them ideal for use in large venues. There are always plenty of things to worry about planning an event, but Fragrance Lamps are flameless and provide long-lasting scent for a stress-free fragrance solution.
With a large collection of Fragrance Lamp designs to see, you’re sure to find one to fit your event.
The ideal marriage of beauty and fragrance, decorative vases are paired with exquisite scents to create a simple, subtle ambience. Reed Diffusers are perfect for creating gorgeous (s)centerpieces or placing throughout an area to add extra touches of fragrance and decoration.
For an extra sparkle, look for decorative Mosaic and Ceramic Reed Diffusers, while The Scented Home Reed Diffusers give the same beautiful fragrance in simpler bottle.
Sprinkle a little touch of subtle fragrance through an event by adding a few drops of Fragrance Oils to bowls of potpourri. You can use these oils by themselves or create your own bespoke scent cocktail by mixing a few together to find the perfect fragrance for your event.

It’s official, Christmas is on. We know, we know, it seems to begin earlier and earlier each year, but it really is well and truly on now. Don’t believe us? Just glance out of your window and gaze in wonderment at the Christmas lights which have popped up on the high street. When were they put up? No one knows. They simply appear each year. Take a look at the shops, too. They’re filling! Christmas shoppers, pop-up Christmas sections, they’re all there. This divides the nation into two sides. There’s the first, those who roll their eyes and point out that “bonfire night is barely over”, and the second, who instinctively break into a chorus of “I don’t want a lot for Christmas…” at the first sight of a bauble.

There are 101 (possibly more) stresses bound to modern life, so much so that we often don’t even notice the stress we carry around with us every day. From work, home, money and everything in between, it’s easy to find your shoulders hunching closer and closer to your ears, and a lot harder to bring them down again. Since we don’t always physically see the negative effects of stress, we often overlook how detrimental it is to our health. But here at Ashleigh & Burwood we reckon it’s time to make a few changes. It’s time to squeeze in some much needed ‘me time’ (and refuse to feel guilty about it). You can take 10 minutes, you can take whatever time you have, but even the shortest of weekly pampering sessions has got to do us some good, hasn’t it?

The first official International Coffee Day takes place on the 1st October, as appointed earlier this year by the Executive Director of the International Coffee Organisation. Didn’t know that was a thing? No, us neither, but we’ll hop on board any opportunity to celebrate coffee!

On Friday 18th September, the BFC show space at Brewer Street Car Park was filled with the scent of home fragrance house Ashleigh & Burwoods’ A Thousand Rose Petals fragrance for the Fyodor Golan SS16 show.
The show exhibited Fyodor Golan’s bold designs for SS16, which included a collaboration with Transformers, tapping into unseen artwork from the 80s to create unique, geometric prints. A common theme of red, pink and yellow roses ran through the collection adding an edgy, feminine aspect to the show which was strongly complemented by the soft release of Ashleigh & Burwoods’ A Thousand Rose Petals. A blend of rich, velvety roses enhanced by warm spices and sparkly aldehydes filled the air, adding a new and creative dimension to the Fyodor Golan collection. A combination of Ashleigh & Burwoods’ A Thousand Rose Petals room sprays and reed diffusers were used to veil the room with fragrance.
The olfactory aspect greatly enhanced the experience, helping the concept behind Fyodor Golans’ SS16 collection to really come to life. Releasing scent into what was already anticipated to be a visually stimulating show created a true sensory experience, the likes of which added a fresh touch to London Fashion Week.
Upcoming blogger Rosie Ladkin of A Girl on a Journey joined Ashleigh & Burwood as a guest at the show, reporting on her blog:
“A lot of the fabrics featured in the SS16 collection include floral patterns or retro flower features in them and filling the venue with a really gorgeous floral scent, “A Thousand Rose Petals”, from Ashleigh & Burwood really tied the whole experience together for me”.
They say a fragrance holds a thousand memories. Well, okay, they don’t say that. But we do and they should.

You may have noticed that we went a bit quiet earlier this week… well that’s because we spent Wednesday and Thursday with the fabulous Roja Dove for The Fragrance Foundation Academy Training! As home fragrance experts we believe you can never know too much and Roja positively enthralled us with both his nose and his knowledge.
We spent Wednesday exploring extraction methods and fragrance types, with Roja further training our noses and introducing us to a whole new method of sampling fragrance. Thursday was spent finely tuning the skills and knowledge we had picked up the day before, we were even able to treat our senses to some of the finest oils in the world (though the ‘interesting’ smell of civet oil was one we’ll happily leave in the past). Roja took us on a journey through the history of perfumery to conclude the day, from tales of François Coty and René Lalique to Christian Dior and Estée Lauder. We were completely absorbed. We’re convinced that Roja Dove is quite possibly the most engaging man on the planet, never mind his expertise in fragrance.
