How to Relax at Christmas

It might very well be the season to be jolly but it can also be the season to be slightly overwhelmed and constantly stressed. Christmas shopping, cooking to feed relatives you haven’t seen since last year and frantic pine needle removal can all add up and diminish that ‘Christmas spirit’ you’ve heard so much about.

Of course, it really is the most wonderful time of the year and there are a few little ways you can ease the stress and pressure, kick back, and enjoy the twinkly lights – and they don’t even involve mulled wine! Well, not all of them.

  1. Online Shopping

No longer must you sharpen your elbows before heading out into the Christmas crowds to fight over the last box of Celebrations. Now you can lie in a bed of crisp white sheets with a breakfast tray of croissants and freshly squeezed orange juice whilst browsing the Ashleigh & Burwood online Christmas Shop. Or something like that. Maybe we’ve been spending too much time on Pinterest. Crisp white sheets and lovingly prepared breakfast tray or not, the point is, you needn’t even leave the house. In fact, you could have one eye on the browser and one eye on a Christmas film – how’s that for multi-tasking?! Thank you, internet.

  1. Candles

They won’t solve the debate over what size turkey to buy, nor can they give the spare room a once over, but the ability of a lit candle to soothe and relax you is undeniable. The soft illumination of candlelight can instil a sense of tranquillity, its soft flicker able to restore you to the calm person you once were before December hit, if only temporarily. Run a bath, forget about the tangled fairy lights, light a Moroccan Rose Escapology candle, and let the velvety notes of rose and calla lily wash over you. Much better.

  1. Pamper

It’s the season of giving, so give yourself a break. Rushing around after everyone else can often mean you forget that it’s your Christmas too. Let someone else peel the parsnips, you’ve got some pampering to do. This could be something as little as having a 5 minute lie down, or you can go for a full-blown pamper session, frankly we’re all for either. Add a few drops of your favourite essential oil to your Amora™ Scent Hub and simply breathe!

Now, surely it’s time for that mulled wine?
