It’s official, we’re in the fiery depths of autumn, and from the looks of things, there’s no going back anytime soon. The wind’s blowing, the leaves are golden, suddenly an umbrella has become something we can’t leave the house without “just in case”, but it’s time to embrace it! That’s right, we’re immersing ourselves in all things autumn, and do you know what? It’s not all that bad! Snuggly blankets, all the reality TV you could possibly watch, and even better – the perfect excuse to get crafty! With Halloween just around the corner, there are plenty of little ways to prep your home for the season!
1. Pumpkin Painting
Put away your carving kit, the kitchen surfaces are staying pumpkin-pulp free this year! There are some great, carve-less ways to decorate pumpkins and we love these Modern Pumpkin designs by Oleander and Palm.
Who knew pumpkins could be chic?!

Top Tip: Throwing a grown-up party this autumn? Decorate mini-pumpkins with these statement designs and scatter across your dining table to create a simple, seasonal centrepiece!
2. Light Your Candles
Is there anything more cosy than the soft flicker of a candle? The heated blends in our Escapology range are created to help transport you to warmer climates. We recommend Kerala Spice, which has a spicy heart of patchouli and cinnamon, zesty grapefruit and bergamot top notes and a base of amber, or Moroccan Rose, a floral symphony of red rose, calla lily, bergamot and sandalwood, as the perfect autumnal aromas!
3. Get Cosy!
Accessorise your bedroom and living room with blankets for a casual, cosy feel. Try folding blankets over the arm of a sofa or at the end of your bed for easy access as the temperature begins to drop, or keep a selection in a wicker basket for you or your guests to grab when needed (plus wicker is set to be huge for AW15/16!).
We love this Grey Honeycomb throw from Graham and Green, £69!
It’s safe to assume that the central heating is going to be working hard over the next few months! Our range of ultrasonic diffusers, Amora™ Scent Hubs, release a fine mist of water and essential oils, injecting moisture into the air and helping to combat the drying effects of central heating!
5. Get Creative with Food
Don’t worry, this one’s relatively mess free! Plus all the baking is already done for you, so it couldn’t be simpler – check out how to make these spider doughnuts from It’s Always Autumn!
The smells of autumn are different for everyone, but when you experience those notes that remind you of the season, they can trigger memories past and give you that warm, familiar feeling that October is here! Keep our home sprays around your house so that you can add a quick spritz of autumn to your living space whenever you like. Our sprays are small enough that they can fit in a handbag or in the glove compartment of your car for sumptuous home fragrance when you’re on the road!
Enchanted Forest: A heart of vetiver and cedar on a base of amber and moss, with aromatic top notes of lavandin.
Peach & Passion Fruit: Mouth-watering bursts of juicy peach and passion fruit blended with creamy notes of white musk and amber.
7. Pumpkin Chalkboards
There are plenty of little touches you can add to your home to create an autumnal haven. These cute pumpkin chalkboards may be one for the more experienced crafter but Jess of Happy Together‘s clear step-by-step guide makes this project a lot simpler even for the craft novice! Glue guns at the ready!
8. Decorate with Scent
Add a touch of autumnal shabby chic to your home with our Scented Metal Pomanders. The spherical design features a cut out stars or leaves & hearts pattern which you can hang by its quaint, cream ribbon wherever you feel in your home. Come Christmas, they can even hang from the tree!
Warm Winter Punch: A heart of orange and cinnamon blended with notes of clove and black pepper.
